Block Coding

Students in the Introduction to Programming class are beginning a new unit called “Block Coding.”  This unit is designed to introduce students to beginning coding.  Students will learn about:

  • Programming input and output using Scratch
  • Pseudocode to help document their designs
  • Programming input and output using Mirco:Bits
  • Using the Engineering Design Proces

The purpose of this unit is for students to:

  • Create prototypes (their own programs) that use algrorithms
  • Use input and output in their programs
  • Justify their coding choices
  • Evaluate and refine their computational artifacts (program) to make them more usable
