Computer Science Foundations 2 (Team Projects)

CSF2 – Team Projects

The 7th block Computer Science 2 class has been currently learning how to program, be an engineer, and build hardware technology. To give you a deeper insight in our class let’s start with looking into our teams. The coding and programming personnel have been given the task to code the remote iFlight for the engineers to have a successful flight with their build.  The engineering team has been assigned to build a drone with the absence of instructions and just the tools given in hand. Our building team is our traffic lights personeel, their task was to build a traffic light with the parts given to them and the parts needed to be built, using the method of gathering, assessing, and deciding. All these teams are critical in constructing one big project and each part is a factor that relies on another part.

The coding personnel is critical to this project because their remote connects to the drone. Without the controller, the drone would not be able to fly. However, while the remote is the most critical part of the project, coding it also comes with its challenges. This group had to work with what they were given, which wasn’t much. They had the code for the controller, but had to figure out where exactly to put it, as well as figuring out how to connect the controllers to the drones.

The engineering team is also a key component to the project. Without the drones, there would be no game. This team had to put together drones referencing an other drone, and use the internet to help with the project. They were challenged because there was no instruction that came with the build, and could only use the tools that were available to them. A lot of trial and error came with this project, and even a small mistake would make a big difference once the drone was complete.

Traffic lights personnel was challenged to create brackets for traffic lights. They had to gather all the information they could, assess, then methodically decide the best way to move forward. like the engineering team, a lot of trial and error was necessary for this project to be successful. The most difficult part of the project was figuring out the exact calculations for the traffic light. If they were even slightly off, the lights would not fit in the brackets.
