RS – Unit 7 Ozobots Blockly
April 3, 2023
This unit will introduce a new robot called an Ozobot. Students will learn how to apply their coding knowledge to this new type of robot building on their understanding of coding vs programming.
At the beginning of every topic, students are STRONGLY encouraged to write down all of the vocabulary words, definitions, and key concepts found in the concept folders. These notes will help students a lot to complete assignments and tests.
Students are learning how to:
-
Develop programs with sequences and simple loops, to express ideas or address a problem.
-
Create programs that include sequences, events, loops, and conditionals.
-
Use appropriate terminology in identifying and describing the function of common physical components of computing systems (hardware).
-
Model how computer hardware and software work together as a system to accomplish tasks.
-
Design projects that combine hardware and software components to collect and exchange data.
-
Design and iteratively develop programs that combine control structures, including nested loops and compound conditionals.
-
Systematically test and refine programs using a range of test cases.
-
Compare levels of abstraction and interactions between application software, system software, and hardware layers.
Students are learning about these things so that they can:
-
Understand how the Ozobots work and identify their key hardware parts.
-
Apply the color codes of the Ozobots to complete challenges
-
Use Blockly to program the Ozobots
-
Create more complex programs implementing iteration within my codes.
Students will know they are successful when they get a perfect score on the following assignments (Keep in mind they have unlimited redos):
