Hardware to Easyware – CSF1

Luis Blanco LeBlanc, Mitchell High School Student

Computer Science is a very effective class on learning the way a computer works. We took a unit called ” Computing Systems: Hardware Programming.” I learned about all the key components of a computer. I learned about everything that is behind a computer, how it functions, and how it is made. I also learned about operating systems and basic hardware that allows computers to work. I learned about the two different types of networks such as open source and closed source. Closed-Source networks are networks such as Microsoft, Mac Os, Adobe Reader, etc. Open-Source networks are networks such as Linux. Closed-Source Software’s are to be paid for if you want to use it, and you can’t change anything about the software. Open-Source Software’s allow you to code to change something whether its the icon, the way something looks, etc. Linux is a free open source software but others charge. Two of the main components of a computer is the hardware and the software. The hardware the computer needs is used to input something into the computer. The software then does whatever it needs to do to compute that input to then give you an output. I also learned about troubleshooting and maintaining a computer by keeping the hardware and software safe, such as following through with updates, disk space, back up, ventilation, anti-viruses, safe browsing, strong passwords, two factor authentication, monitor financials, and phishing. These will all keep your software and hardware safe from any viruses, hackers, and damages. With this knowledge I’m able to compare the interactions between software and hardware, develop troubleshooting guidelines that others can use to identify and fix errors, give examples to illustrate how data can be affected by attacks, evaluate computational artifacts to make them more usable and accessible, and explain the beneficial and harmful effects that intellectual property laws can have on innovation.

This knowledge helps me in real life so that I can apply it to everything about technology. If I’m buying something that involves technology, I can estimate the amount of it by the condition it is in to make sure I’m not getting ripped off. I can also help anybody that has problems with a computer or I’m able to give them precautions on how to avoid problems such as troubleshooting and maintaining their computer. Computer Science made me realize there is much more to the science than just typing something and it popping up on a screen. Computer Science should be essential and it is beneficial and various aspects.
