RS – Unit 6 Computing Systems: CAD/CAM
March 16, 2023
Unit 6 is designed to introduce students to 3D printing as a way to explain how data can be used to represent real-world objects. Students will learn how industries use 3D modeling.
At the beginning of every topic, students are STRONGLY encouraged to write down all of the vocabulary words, definitions, and key concepts found in the concept folders. These notes will help students a lot to complete assignments and tests.
Students are learning how to:
- Explain how abstractions hide the underlying implementation details of computing systems embedded in everyday objects.
- Compare levels of abstraction and interactions between application software, system software, and hardware layers.
- Develop guidelines that convey systematic troubleshooting strategies that others can use to identify and fix errors.
- Create interactive data visualizations using software tools to help others better understand real-world phenomena
- Create computational models that represent the relationship among different elements of data collected from a phenomenon or process.
- Create artifacts by using procedures within a program, combinations of data and procedures, or independent but interrelated programs.
Students are learning about these things so that they can:
- Understand how 3D designs are created on a computer
- Explore different ways 3D printing can be used in around the world and outer space
- Learn how to create my own 3D designs
- Discover ways 3D modeling is being used in industries.
Students will know they are successful when they get a perfect score on the following assignments (Keep in mind they have unlimited redos):
- CS-CAD/CAM Question of the Day Discussion 10 pts Due 3/17
- CS-CAD/CAM Commit to Learning 11 pts Due 3/17
